A man is lowered down into the sea, his hand anxiously holds the railing of the diving stage while the steel cage sinks its way down towards the open depths of the Southern Atlantic Ocean. The crew of 'The Fool's Bounty' had planned their voyage to deliver equipment to the solar farms of Antarctica months in advance, wanting to steer clear of storms only to find themselves in the middle of one over night. Naval Cadet Whit Ness is asked to stay above, keeping an eye on the weather and waves surrounding them as well as taking the control of the helm for the night. Left alone on the deck, the young crew-mate sails "The Fool's Bounty" smoothly through the sudden downpour they've encountered. Whit begins to think the storm will let on soon, but as they say about the sky being as fickle as the sea.

A low roll of thunder and lightening fill the sky as the young cadet looks on to the motionless sea. His brows furrow together and he lifts himself off the wheel he had been leaning on for the past hour as something on his horizon catches his attention. Whits looks out to the rolling waves of the sea, nothing but the sporadic lightening to illuminate the waves below. Whit Ness yawns groggily, rubbing an eye with his hand before looking out to the ocean and feeling the blood leave his face. He looked out to what looked like a person out at sea. Whit rushes to the side of the ship, grabbing a life preserver in case what he had seen wasn't just his body's tiredness getting the best of him. He looks out at a seemingly empty ocean, nothing but the crashing waves in his view.

That is until.. he sees it.

Or her, at least Whit thinks its a her. He holds the life preserver up in the air, readying it as the crewman waits for another flash of lightening to light up his surroundings. There's a flash and he sees her. Whit sees a woman, she stands above the waves with a stoic and unmoving demeanor. Whit's line of sight tries to stay with her, calling out before tossing the life preserver out to sea. The rays of lightening dies down as the ship passes by the woman. Whit nears the back of the ship as he continues to have her in his sights. A crash into the water is heard and the woman out at sea looks Whit Ness straight into his eyes. The last thing Naval Cadet Ness sees before his surroundings are plunged with the darkness of the night is the cold gaze of the ghastly figure. Whit is petrified as an eerie silence falls across the ship. He feels stillness in the water where previously there had been large waves rocking The Fool's Bounty. Where he was previously able to hear a chorus a waves, Whit can now only hear his own breathing.

A flash of lightening casts itself against the dark sky and Whit Ness no longer sees a woman standing ontop of the waves, but the giant wingspan of an enormous bird crashing against the waves below. Whit falls to the floor, scrambling to regain his balance as the giant bird's wings cause the ship to whip to and fro. The young naval cadet slides across the ship's deck, his hands pressed against his ears as the beast roars above him. Lightening and thunder gather behind the beast as Whit takes to the helm and attempts to maneuver the Fool's Bounty away from the giant creature. The young cadet manages to evade the creature and the massive wings as they cut through the ocean waves and fan a horrible current against the Fool's Bounty as it tries to fly. Whit grabs hold of the wheel and attempts to use the unruly currents created by the beast to help them escape, but then he finds his path blocked by a large webbed dorsal fin heading in his direction.

Whit acts as quickly with sailing the Fool's Bounty, now trying to avoid two giant monstrosities. Just as he manages to barely graze the giant creature swimming towards him, it proves to be of no use as the giant bird becomes airborne and dives ahead of the ship into the deep. The bird's roars become muffled as it sinks down with its intended prey clasped in between its beak. Whit collapses across the deck of the ship as the waves match the size and aggression of the winged beast. Whit struggles to hold himself to the edge of the ship without getting bolted off into the sea. He sees the two creatures battle in the turbulence of ocean waves. Whit sees how the creatures change and shift their forms. The giant bird creating a pouch within its mouth where it had previously been just a long flat billed beak, trying to swallow its prey whole. All the while, what Whit thought had been a sea serpent begins to grow a protrusion onto its mouth, growing into a long a sharp shape to cut through the thin and elastic skin. What's grown into a giant swordfish swims out of the sea bird's mouth. It doesn't seem to retreat into the depths of the sea. Rather the giant swordfish charges towards the winged creature, eager to pierce the sea fowl once more. The severed skin of the sea bird's elongated bill retreats into itself, creating a wide and hard beak to protect itself from the foe's quick and heavy blows. It's a wonder how Whit Ness is capable of witnessing this sort of aquatic action, but let's not dwell on that for too long.

The sea begins to fill with the sea bird's giant feathers, the white fizz of sea foam taking their place as they surface above the water. The sea foam begins to cover and obscure the two fraying creatures beneath the waves. Whit is unable to tell if the fighting has stopped until the webbed dorsal fin of the swordfish breaches the water once again, presumably triumphant against the waterfowl. Things go silent once again for the ocean and our dear Whit. He bids the swordfish farewell, turning the bow of the Fool's Bounty in the opposite direction. The waves valley and crease around the large bird as it resurfaces. Its beak and talons dig into the giant swordfish, the fish's bill knocking against the boat and tearing at the sails as it tries to free itself from the giant bird's grasp. The giant sea bird giving a malicious roar of victory before tearing into the swordfish's skull. Whit eyes the winged beast as it feeds on the creature, hoping the boat can manage to ride the forceful waves the villain of a bird makes to escape. Unfortunately for Whit, this will be as much as he'll be able to witness as the demon bird flies over head and drops the giant swordfish onto its deck, the weight understandably plunging him and his whole crew to the depths.

Much like the corpse of the swordfish, the broken nameplate of the ship that now reads as "The Fool" drifts to the bottom of the seafloor, unobstructed on its journey there. The unfortunate swordfish, generous with its misfortune, is able to make contact with the small submarine of the Bison family. It is aptly named Bisons & Daughters and is currently being dragged down to the sea floor of the Southern Atlantic Ocean. Not too far from the three resides the long forgotten and questionably kept underwater colony of Capricornius-25.10.
